Day Five - The River Boat Tour

Carrying on the bus tour theme, we ventured on the city tour today, taking in down town Singapore and the northern leafy (rain forest) areas. We passed through Clarke Quay, a rather busy area of the waterfront, which we noted as a place to return back to in the evening.

Downtown Singapore, the F1 race will pass over this bridge in two weeks time!
Some shopping followed along Orchard Road, including the now customary search for vegetarian food, which failed. We ended up settling for a pasta, which was extra spicy and not to our liking. Ah well at least we tried.

Taking the MRT, we went back to Clarke Quay and boarded a river cruise (included in our bus tour ticked). It was so beautiful - all the bridges were colorfully lit. The tour took us out to the bay, passing the Merlion statue and the marina bay sands hotel before return back up the river to Clarke Key.

The Clarke Quay area is like a grown up temple bar area, with upmarket bars and restaurants lining both sides of the river. Some of the inner streets had umbrellas covering them high above the rooftops making the streets below rain proof. Truly beautiful.

After some grocery shopping in the local cold storage (the Dunnes Stores of Singapore) we headed back to the apartment to wash our clothes in preparation for our 4 day trip to Kuala Lumar tomorrow.
